Privacy Policy
The short version: Wriggled asks for as little as an app can. There is nowhere to type, so there is nothing to read. We do not sell anything about you, we do not run ads, and we never will.
Who this is
Wriggled is operated by Micah Manuel Ring Proulx, a sole proprietor based in Alberta, Canada. Under Canadian privacy law that person is the organisation responsible for your information, and under UK and EU law they are the data controller. You can reach them at support@wriggled.app.
What we collect
Your account. Wriggled uses Sign in with Apple and nothing else. Apple gives us a stable identifier for you, and nothing else. We do not ask Apple for your name or your email address, so we never receive either. We generate your handle for you, and you cannot choose or change it.
Your drawings. Each drawing is stored as the sequence of strokes you made, together with the date, the day's squiggle, and which colours you used. We also store a few numbers describing the finished drawing, such as how much of the canvas is covered, how many strokes it took and its main colour, which we use to keep the gallery varied.
How you use the app. Whether you submitted on a given day, your streak, hearts you have given and received, and how many times a drawing has been shown. We use a product analytics service to understand which parts of the app people use, and a crash reporting service to find bugs.
Your device. Basic technical information such as your iOS version and device model, and a token from Apple's DeviceCheck service. DeviceCheck lets us record that a particular device has been banned without telling us anything else about the device or about you.
Checking drawings. Before a drawing is uploaded, the app checks it for content that breaks the Community Guidelines. That check runs entirely on your phone.
Your subscription. If you subscribe to Wriggled+, we receive from Apple the fact that you have an active subscription and when it renews. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details, billing address, or full Apple account.
What you send us. If you email support, we keep that email so we can answer it.
What we do not collect
- Your name or your email address. Sign in with Apple is set up so that it shares neither.
- Any text you write, because there is nowhere in Wriggled to write anything. No captions, comments, bios, messages or chosen usernames.
- Your contacts, photo library, microphone or camera.
- Your location.
- Payment card details.
- Advertising identifiers. Wriggled has no ads and no advertising SDKs, so there is no cross-app tracking to opt out of.
Why we use it
To run the game and show you your own archive. To show your drawing to other players who have already submitted theirs, which is the point of the app. To keep the gallery safe and to enforce our Community Guidelines. To fix crashes and improve the app. To handle subscriptions. To answer your emails.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our legal basis is performance of our contract with you for anything needed to run the game and your subscription, and our legitimate interests for security, moderation, crash reporting and product analytics. If you are in Canada, we rely on your consent, given when you create an account and accept these terms.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. At launch these are Apple for sign-in, payments and DeviceCheck, Supabase for our database and authentication, Cloudflare for hosting and file storage, RevenueCat for subscription management, PostHog for product analytics, and Sentry for crash reporting.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will only disclose it otherwise if we are legally required to, or if it is necessary to protect someone's safety.
Where your information is stored
Our service providers operate servers outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. That means your information may be processed in countries whose privacy laws differ from your own, and may be accessible to courts and law enforcement in those countries. We choose providers that offer appropriate contractual protections for international transfers.
How long we keep it
Your drawings and account stay until you delete your account. When you delete your account, we delete your drawings and your account record. Some information survives deletion for a limited time: backups, which are overwritten on a rolling basis, and records we are required to keep, such as moderation and ban records, which we keep to stop a banned device simply starting again.
Your rights
You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app. You can also ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable format. If you are in the UK or the EEA you can also object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
Write to support@wriggled.app and we will answer within thirty days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your own national data protection authority if you are in the UK or the EEA.
Children
Wriggled is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to support@wriggled.app and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to the production database is limited to the operator. Wriggled is made by one person, which means there are very few people who could access anything, and also that we cannot promise the security resources of a large company.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
Terms of Service
The short version: draw what you like within the Community Guidelines, your drawings stay yours, the subscription is optional and never buys an advantage, and if something goes wrong our liability is limited.
Who this agreement is with
These terms are an agreement between you and Micah Manuel Ring Proulx, a sole proprietor based in Alberta, Canada, who operates Wriggled. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Age
You must be at least 13 to use Wriggled. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Wriggled with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
Your account
Wriggled uses Sign in with Apple. Your handle is generated for you and cannot be changed to something you choose. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deleting it removes your drawings from the gallery and from your archive.
Your licence to use Wriggled
We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Wriggled on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, use it to build a competing product, or access it by any automated means.
Your drawings
They are yours. You keep all rights in the drawings you make. We do not claim ownership of them.
What you let us do with them. By submitting a drawing you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store it, display it to other players inside Wriggled, include it in the day's gallery and replay, and produce the share cards and exports the app offers. This licence exists only so the app can work. It ends when you delete the drawing or your account, except for copies already shared by other people outside the app, and for backups until they are overwritten.
We will not use your drawing to advertise Wriggled without asking you first.
You confirm that what you draw is yours to draw, and that submitting it does not break anyone else's rights or any law.
Rules
The Community Guidelines are part of these terms. Breaking them can get a drawing hidden, an account suspended, or a device banned.
Moderation
Drawings are checked automatically on your device before they are uploaded, and any player can report a drawing. A reported drawing is hidden straight away, before anyone reviews it, because we would rather hide something briefly by mistake than leave something harmful up while it is checked. If the check cannot finish, the drawing is not sent.
If we hide your drawing, the app tells you why, and one tap on "Ask a person to look at it" sends it to a person for review. We aim to review within five working days. If we suspend your account and you think we got it wrong, email support@wriggled.app.
Wriggled+
Wriggled+ is an optional subscription. It gives you full-resolution viewing of your own archive, timelapse replay, and video export. It does not change the daily squiggle, your colours, your brush, how visible your drawing is, or how much anything you do counts. There is no paid advantage in Wriggled and there will not be one.
Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of that period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. The annual plan includes a free trial; if you subscribe during a free trial, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited when you purchase.
The founding lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, limited to the first 1,000 people, and is retired permanently once that number is reached. It does not renew.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request them through Apple's support.
If we ever stop offering Wriggled+, we will give notice in the app, and lifetime purchasers will keep the features for as long as the service runs.
Availability
We will try to keep Wriggled running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error free. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app and a way to export your archive.
Ending it
You can stop using Wriggled and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the Community Guidelines, or if we are required to by law.
No warranty
Wriggled is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data or lost profits. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Wriggled is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty Canadian dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the UK or the EEA, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.
Apple
This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Wriggled or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Wriggled. If Wriggled fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party has relating to Wriggled, including product liability claims, claims that Wriggled fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third party claim that Wriggled infringes intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a terrorist supporting country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Carrying on using Wriggled after that means you accept the new version.
